Finding that there is a very healthy balance that needs to be had in life between things that bring you fulfillment and things that advance your career. I used to think fulfillment could be entirely achieved through career progress. Maybe because my personal and professional life are so closely intertwined. But now I'm finding that it's really important to feel connected to life and those around you with absolutely nothing to do with what you do for work on a day to day basis. The more you can feel a sense of connectedness to one another over a shared love or interest, the easier it is to feel a sense of community and with that - a sense of happiness.

older I get, the more I realize that fulfillment is giving the hand-up. certainly like to improve skills and get paid but it hardly compares to helping others and acts of service.

It's easy to get caught up in the idea that professional success is the key to happiness, but I too have come to understand that true fulfillment comes from a deeper sense of connection and community. It takes courage to acknowledge that maybe, just maybe, you've been relying too heavily on your career to bring you joy and a sense of purpose.
