Really into this idea of community currency lately. It's a token who's primary purpose is to represent a community, vibe or culture. You give it to people (through ways like tips) to create strong brand awareness and win together in it's shared success. FWB was an early example - DEGEN is the latest.

would you view it in a similar way to creator tokens?

In theory yes. Creator tokens seem to require a deeper level of commitment since they're typically geared around one person who's primary focus is not being onchain. Community currency largely revolves around onchain brands too which is why I think they see so much success compares to creator tokens (diff audiences).

yeah fully agreed, although I somehow still creator tokens as a path forward to onboard a lot more users. Primarily in a situation where strong web2 creators leverage their large audiences and introduce them to the web3 space just through token interaction at the beginning.
