To your point about BTC electricity FUD: that took a LOT of marketing for BTC to overcome.

ETH needs to continue its marketing efforts. And this business of L2s being parasitic needs to go away: total transaction throughput *including L2s* is increasing the whole ETH economy. 

Yep it's a bit fragmented right now, but new tech/initiatives will solve that too...
