Crypto is a cultural/social movement first and a technology movement second.

This, I believe, is where the majority of "disagreements" arise from in this ecosystem.

I'm in it for the tech, but I wouldn't be in it *at all* if I didn't vibe with the cultural/social movement.

Maybe in the beginning yes. I think route to entry post 2017 was 

1. Hear I can make crazy gains so I make a wallet
2. Get exposed to blockchain maxis 
3. Stay for the social movement even tho I’ve been rugged to death
4. Lifetime learning the tech 

TLDR: gains > social movement > tech
