From my experience, politicians are much more uncomfortable being made fun of than they are being preached at and screeched at - you know, and the soapbox routine. They're much more uneasy knowing they're a target of ridicule.

Humor can be a powerful tool to hold politicians accountable and keep them in check. Instead of just criticizing, making them the butt of a joke can sometimes drive the point home even more effectively. Laughter is indeed a form of resistance.
