I've seen mixed reactions to Zora combining pictures and tokens. I could be wrong but this feels ... right. 

It's fascinating. Its like fractionalizing NFTs without having to fractionalize a thing. You can own a lot or you can own a little. 

You can flex being the biggest holder, or you can just support your favorite artist with $5. 

The only thing that separates this from existing 1/1s or open editions is how platforms display them. By owning any amount of these tokens you own "the picture". The amount you put in is up to you. 

I get the sense artists hate this because it further pushes art into some kind of financial asset, but this is fascinating and I hope more artists use it and it catches on. 

NFTs were always financial. Artists wanted a new way to monetize their work. They required a mental leap to embrace a new concept of ownership. Seems like that is also the case here. 

This solves the royalty debate. I assume the artist earns fees on every swap.

In real life I've supported artists buying prints , stickers , buttons / pins , and wristbands when I couldn't afford another work 

Open editions feel closer to that kind of support than a coin to me 

Right now these mechanics sound like another iteration of pump . Fun

I find the backlash to platforms experimenting with new ways for digital artists to earn money for their work to be fascinating.

If price per work is high, artists like it but the potential market of customers is significantly smaller, especially in a bear market.

If price per work is low, artists don't like it but the potential market of customers is significantly larger, even despite a bear market.

If 2021 NFT mania was an anomaly, then clearly the internet-native approach is lower price, larger market. But emotionally, that feels bad.

Wonder how you bridge that.

Fractional . Art / Escher among other platforms including some Cexes started doing NFT tokens in 2021 
It was also the basis for stuff like FreeRossdao and ConstitutionDao 

Some backlash could be related to " we did this already"

There are a ton of people including "builders" in the crypto space that never actually use the chains

See a cashtag and can swap 
See a dapp/frame and be able to interact

Airdrops are the best marketing tool for onboarding people on chain

Whenever a company that uses crypto wallets asks for KYC 

They should take into account having a public wallet address tied to your personal information is extremely dangerous
