I want a social media app that lets me talk to people within a certain location distance from me. 

Has to be super safe—people should be able to see anyone’s actual, live location—but fun. Ability to be anon and shitpost, so unlike NextDoor. 

Who’s building this?

More half-baked thoughts about a location-based social media app (thread):

- connect with others in your same general location
- location needs to be small enough that connections are meaningful. I want to talk to people in my neighborhood, not my city

- at the same time, location needs to be large enough that enough people are using it outside of highly concentrated locations like NYC
- no one should be able to see anyone’s live, actual location (for safety)

- the app *should* rely on actual GPS data—I want to talk to folks literally in my area, not just pretending to be
- allow users to stay anonymous
- don’t make the app about safety (Nextdoor, citizen), make it about fun and connections
- allow DMs
