Bitcoin 2024 conference Donald Trump gave a striking speech marking his ambition to make the US a global bitcoin superpower. He stated that bitcoin is the ninth most valuable asset in the world and will one day overtake gold.

Trump promised to fire Gary Gensler as head of the SEC on the first day of his presidency and create a bitcoin council to develop transparent regulatory rules. He emphasized that there will be no digital dollar (CBDC) under his presidency.

Trump expressed particular pride in being the first US presidential candidate to accept donations in cryptocurrency. He assured that cryptocurrencies will skyrocket if he is elected president and urged that bitcoins should never be sold. In the moment, bitcoin reacted by falling more than 2%.
