Yayoi Kusama selling vinyl reflective balls at Venice Biennale in 1966 as part of her Narcissus Garden performance art/protest. She was not invited, she was barred from “peddling” her wares, but she left a lasting impression with her artful protest. Venice Biennale would close down two years later as artists joined protests instead of exhibiting.
