How will fees work on the WalletConnect Network?

The WalletConnect token (WCT) will facilitate fees, ensuring fast, secure, and seamless interactions across apps and wallets. As the network grows, these fees will support rewards and drive continued decentralization.

Initially, the WalletConnect Network will operate fee-free to encourage adoption and growth. However, as usage scales, WCT holders can vote to introduce fees for services like relay usage, with all fees paid in WCT tokens.

These fees won’t just disappear—they’ll go directly towards network rewards which incentivize the network participants to maintain performance, uptime, and security. This creates a self-sustaining system where those contributing the most to the Network are rewarded fairly.

By tying fees to WCT, the WalletConnect Network ensures that value stays within the ecosystem. This model incentivizes high performance and active participation, all while supporting the decentralized infrastructure that powers the onchain future.

WCT will be used for staking, rewards and governance

lol. tbf, it's hard because the qr code scanning isn't the only way to connect (people use wc to connect with tons of different desktop products as well)

you can make the argument that you should assign equal value to 1 fireblocks user and to 1 non-crypto person. maybe even say the latter is *more* important, fine. but let's look at the "total assets value" those two users are engaging with onchain:
1. fireblocks user: millions of dollars in assets
2. non-crypto person: maybe $100 in assets?
Using this lens, shouldn't we ensure the fireblocks user has a workable ux?

By tons you mean crypto population tons and the total volume of crypto users is closer to 0 than it is to meaningful. So we can discount everything crypto people say or think entirely, then what’s left is designing for what a non crypto person would tolerate or enjoy
