The fact that my friends in tech are texting with excitement about Thiel, Vance and Musk would be almost unthinkable during the Google Walkout era.

I find this so interesting. I’d struggle to find anyone I know in the uk with anything positive to say about them. What’s the tldr for the excitement?

My perosnal theories…

1. The left hates tech and makes us feel unwelcome. It wasn’t not a factor in me leaving the country.

2. The Republican party finally has intellectuals and good orators who understand pop culture dynamics better and this for the first time many are open to their ideas.

3. Covid made peoples re-evaluate everything.

4. The Democratic Party is unrecognizable from the one during Obama. Put 3 & 4 together and it’s like wtf is going on.

But if I tldr it, one party believes in growth and that technology is an amplifier and the other believes in de-growth and technology is evil.
