The name "Bluetooth" comes from a 10th-century Danish king, Harald "Blåtand," who united Denmark and Norway, similar to how Bluetooth technology connects devices. In 1996, engineers from Nokia and Intel needed a temporary name for the project, and Jim Kardach, inspired by Viking history, suggested "Bluetooth." The name stuck, and the logo combines Nordic runes for Harald's initials, "H" and "B."
