/🧵 Very intrigued by this Blockworks x Wormhole Wassies NFT campaign. Is there something bigger going on here or am I just mind fucked by current meta to the point where my brain is interpreting everything and anything as a potential airdrop qualifier?

/ I devour Blockworks podcasts like nobody's business and found myself registering for a couple of the early editions. Tanked some stupid high ETH mainnet gas fees to mint, reasoning they might be a qualifier for the Wormhole airdrop. It wasn't, oh well.

/ So what's the point? If it's just supposed to be some a cool collectable for listeners, why mint it on ETH mainnet and not a cheaper L2?

/ Is it a way to filter for listeners with fat wallets who can be targeted for Blockworks services and events in the future? Maybe. Do they want the collection to have some provenance and therefore exist on ETH mainnet for some special future utility or airdrop? Maybe.

/ All I know is that recently, in a very dead ETH NFT meta, people have starting bidding these NFTs for ~0.025ETH. Not a lot but it's a start. Not many have been minted, 782 by 582 holders (74% unique). It looks like the campaign will end soon on May 28th - so maybe collections mints out at a size of ~3,000.

/ Anyone else have any thoughts, will anything become of this campaign? Would kind of feel anti-climatic if it just suddenly ends. Is Blockworks just experimenting? Did Santi ask the team why they couldn't run this campaign on Solana? Will Wormhole x Wassies flip Moonbirds?
