Are there like local neighborhood newspapers? They have them in Chicago; part ads, part neighborhood news. typically are the best way to find apartments being rented by like grandma grandpa small landlords.

Yeah most neighborhoods in Chicago got rid of them. But there's one neighborhood that's like OLD SCHOOL and filled with old people... And they still have em 
So you might need to visit other hoods

Oh have you thought about student centers? And looking at the board of available apartments?
