This attempted coup in 2016 in Turkey was so much more exciting than the Martial law that happened recently in SK. I remember being in a WhatsApp group with some Turkish friends living in Istanbul and they were giving me the play by play Though it made me think, in this day and age where information is so instantaneous how do you pull off a coup? I think the old way of doing it through the military is impossible; because news travels so fast So in order to pull or asymmetrical warfare in this day and age in a physical manner really seems difficult. Comparatively, this feels like the golden age for misinformation and information dissemination of fake news etc - you want to convince the public that the best course or action is a coup and make them do it. The closest that comes to mind is Jan 6 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Turkish_coup_attempt

More and more I keep seeing how perception is stronger than reality. I absolutely think misinformation and fake news is the way to manipulate the population. Have them do political bidding for wherever incites it
