The trend of "trading on depreciation" will continue in the long term as the share of gold and bitcoin in investors' portfolios expands. Record inflows into the cryptocurrency market in 2024 also indicated that bitcoin has become a structurally significant instrument for market participants. JPMorgan called last year a "pivotal" year for the digital asset industry. According to their calculations, the total capital inflow in the direction for 12 months amounted to about $78 billion. Of that, $27 billion came from ETFs, $14 billion from CME futures, $14 billion from cryptoventure funds, $22 billion was represented in MicroStrategy bitcoin purchases and $1 billion in miners' transactions. Analysts said the rise in gold's share of portfolios is "evident" when examining the amount of the precious metal held by central banks and private investors.
