This is exactly the game that would benefit from crypto if you could trade those resources. /stokefire is building this (without trading atm) fully onchain.

yeah I think the multiplayer mechanics could be pretty fun. I loved the feeling of advancing through ages in Rise of Nations and would be cool to make this a coop goal - everyone could see the units and buildings upgrade visually at the same time
