End of an era. The large branch that fell off our 100+ year old maple tree. It’s the same branch that holds the rope swing, seen in the picture. I was out on my porch cooking dinner on the grill when it happened. First thing that alerted me was the loud pops and cracks. I looked up and witnessed it crashing into the tree in our neighbor’s yard. That must have slowed it significantly because when it made contact with the utility line, it only stretched and bowed it instead of snapping it in two.

aww sadness. we lost our tree in a storm a few months ago. the house feels different without our nice tree out front. fortunately nobody was hurt and we chopped it up and set it to dry. I like the suggestion to make something out of the wood. Brilliant idea!

I like that idea too. I was out on my porch cooking dinner and was a safe distance away. The fall was preceded by a few loud pops that confused me. Watching it slowly crash into the neighbor's tree and fall to the soggy ground below had me transfixed.
