Some recruiters and founders complain about talking to fake candidates- here's a popular formula they follow that is easy to spot: 

1. Fernando Yu/Carlos Wang : many have a typically Spanish first name and a Chinese last name.
2. Worked at top tech companies and followed a solid trajectory but now work at random IT consultancies
3. Lives in oddly specific small towns: Paris, Tx or Shreveport, La
4. They worked at Netflix in SF, Meta in Austin, Coinbase in NY but now live in Bentonville, Ar
5. Non target schools listed w/ top company exp
6. Phone number area code matches none of those locations. Typically a Dallas suburb. 
7. Picture: missing, AI enhanced, or horribly photoshopped

 If something feels off about a profile, it probably is.
