The hirola, the world's most endangered antelope, has seen its population plummet from 14,000 in the 1970s to just around 600 today. This drastic decline is mainly due to habitat loss caused by overgrazing, fire suppression, elephant extirpation, climate variability, conflict, and drought. Efforts are ongoing to restore their traditional grasslands to save them from extinction.š¦ š¢
