HUG 🤗

Today one of my pieces was accepted into the FCancer open call. I'm really happy to donate this piece to this cause — I almost cried while writing the story behind my creation and wanted to share with you all... ❤️ ···frac·tured//fem·i·nin·i·ty··· is symbolic of the challenging relationship all women have with our own bodies. As someone who has lost friends and family to cancer, and having been by my mother's side as she went through a partial hysterectomy and radiation, there was a lot of emotion that went into creating this piece. For me (an at risk individual) it's a constant battle to stay vigilant—with biopsies and mammograms every 6 months. As a woman, I feel my own body is working against me. What I tried to communicate in this piece is the fragility of the female form. The battle is both inside and out: to feel whole, to feel beautiful, and to feel safe. I count my blessings that my mom is a survivor in remission. 

I am one of the lucky ones.
