Warming up to the idea that meme coins are just kindling for the fire. 🔥 🪵 Or maybe mulch for the garden 💩 🌱

a garden metaphor is a favourite of mine for a lot of things how do you envision them as mulch?

On one hand, they are called sh*tcoins for a reason. On the other, they provide fuel for the real things to flourish from. Real activity. Additional economic security. New categories of ideas opening up and extending the boundaries of what we think makes sense in the ecosystem. Positive externalities.

Love this answer, definitely fuel. Their high-turnover combined with diversity of culture is certainly leading to more people thinking about the tech in different ways. It’s a current layer of the culture from which new ideas can spring. I’ve been playing with the idea of disposability recently as a result. Protocols designed to solve problems and then no longer contain an incentive to be used or something.

I spent a long period of my career as a developer thinking and talking about disposability in software (I coined the term "immutable infrastructure" during that period). I love the idea in this context. (Here I am in dusseldorf 10 years ago talking about impermance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEb_GhPtxm8)
