I don’t really think I properly understand the concept of silence & noise cancellation lol.

Especially right by the ear, ya know?

It’s supposedly using opposite soundwaves to cancel out the noise… but how is that also not registered as noise, or as a vibration of the cranium??

When two sound waves are the exact inverse of each other, they cancel  out. This is what noise cancellation headphones do. They listen to the sound outside and play it back to you 180 degrees out of phase. The result is perceived silence.
