Batteries can store energy when generation is cheap/demand is low and distribute it when generation is expensive/demand is high. Kinda is the key. Spent about a year looking at the potential intersection of batteries, blockchain and smart contracts. I could never get the economics to work, even focusing in on CA. Looked at Germany too, but the spread between peak and off peak rates has to be large and over hours not minutes.
