Where do recasts go? I certainly don’t see them on the feeds of people that recast them. Do they make a difference?

Pretty sure they go into the home feed of people who are following you.

It doesn't say *recasted by x* though so it's hard to tell

They fill the casts and replies tab and the feeds of others. In my diptychs posts, if I say via so and so, it's bc they qc or rc.

there is a separate tab for them, but whether they make a difference is anyone's guess

Not 100% certain but I recall reading that recasting something brings it back into the spotlight but only in whichever channel the original cast belongs to if that makes sense?
