The left worldwide internalized Thatcher's "There is no alternative", to a greater degree that conservatives themselves. The right is now unashamed of being radical, while leftist politicians still have to be apologetic about their ideals.

And rather than challenge accepted dogma that we live in a meritocracy and everyone gets what they deserve; neoliberals chose to focus on identity politics and minority groups who undeniably have never received equality of opportunity because of intentional systemic disadvantage. Meanwhile a large swathe of the population is increasingly struggling with minimal assistance because they seemingly had equality of opportunity and so are not deemed worthy of meaningful help. They have what they “deserve” to have. Only time and chance happenth to us all. Some people are in the right place at the right time and some aren’t. Some win the genetic lottery and some don’t. Yes, hard work is required, but many people who work hard aren’t blessed with good fortune and toil their whole lives without ever seeing a reward. So now people want dramatic change because they’re struggling. One side offered the status quo and the other offered radical change, but not the kind of change that will actually help.
