When talking to VCs that are major investors in your competitors, is discretion and/or secrecy overrated?

I know execution >>> ideas but still feels odd talking in detail about strategy and vision to these folks.

My experience is very much depends on the individual u are talking too, some can be decent some are not. So just talk on things that u don’t mind if a competitor hears from the person u talk too. Leave more sensitive info ( if there is any! Many are not) to more committed talks
