Plotter output of topological mappings, Ruth Leavitt, 1977. Ruth created these will a calcomp plotter. They were gen art designs for future sculptures. Ruth was a pioneer in computer art. This is my first piece to go on loan to a museum and will be shown in Lichtenstein this summer and Amsterdam next summer.

Computer house of cards by Eames. Created as souvenirs for IBM at the world's fair in Japan, 1970. The set shows a variety of inner & outer workings of computers. Made before the invention of the computer chip. They were also featured at the recent LACMA exhibit. Original sets still available on the Eames website.

Untitled plotter drawing, 1969, Gerhard Von Graevenitz. Von G used dice when he started creating gen art in the 50s. But had moved to computers by this point. If you're interested in more historical digital art I'm trying to build a community at /hist-comp-art

Image from NASA-2, the first computer to create color images. This is one of the 1st color pixel images ever. Created as part of the new shuttle simulator program. View from the front. 8 prints in the set. I talked to Bob Schumacker who built NASA-2 and who verified the image as legit. Art? Maybe. Cool in any case.

Gerhard von Graevenitz. 1969 untitled plotter drawing. Von G was co-founder of the New Tendencies group in the 60s. He started making Gen art in the 50s by rolling dice. This piece is from after he switched to using computers. Original plots recently discovered and some on display currently at RCM gallery in Paris.
