My theory is *most* amazing tech companies have shitty tech to start, usually built by odd ball hustlers + 1 unicorn eng, but have a significant distribution advantage that turns into a moat. Then once the momentum is clear, the great engineers show up and the story is rewritten that they always had S-tier engineering
