๐ŸŽจ My 3D Learning Adventure of this summer: A Personal Reflection ๐Ÿš€ This summer, I embarked on a journey into the world of 3D tools, exploring TouchDesigner, Houdini, and Three.js. My goal? To expand my creative horizons. What a ride it's been! ๐Ÿงฉ The Node-Based Revolution: Node-based coding felt like unlocking a new superpower. It offered a refreshing visual approach to complex systems, making me rethink how I approach creative coding. I love the idea of creating visual art in a way similar to sound design with modular synthesizers - connecting nodes, tweaking parameters, and seeing immediate results. ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Tool Impressions: โ€ข TouchDesigner: A breath of fresh air! Perfect for quick experiments and live visuals. โ€ข Houdini: Mind-blowingly powerful, but whew, that learning curve! (And frustratingly, it can't utilize my M2 Mac's GPU yet... ๐Ÿ˜…) โ€ข Three.js: Despite its verbosity, it beautifully bridged my coding background with 3D possibilities. Bruno Simon's course was a game-changer! ๐Ÿค” Unexpected Realizations: This journey made me question my artistic direction more than I anticipated. The vast possibilities were both exhilarating and overwhelming. Surprisingly, I found myself appreciating the constraints of pure code generative art more than ever. There's a beautiful simplicity in crafting art solely through algorithms.

๐Ÿ”ฎ Looking Ahead: I'm excited to dive deeper into Three.js, but with a twist โ€“ I'm planning to use it primarily for 2D projects for now. I'm particularly keen on exploring GPGPU and particle systems. ๐ŸŒŸ Final Thoughts: It's very possible that I'll continue to play with TouchDesigner and Houdini in the future. Regardless, this journey of discovery has been fascinating and incredibly instructive. Each tool has opened new perspectives on visual creation, and I'm excited to see how these experiences will influence my future work. Remember, sometimes the most interesting art comes from using tools in ways they weren't intended. So here's to pushing boundaries, one pixel at a time! ๐ŸŽจโœจ
