Thinking about my FIL RIP. He was a pretty interesting entrepreneur. Grew up poor. Went to jail. Never finished high school. Joined the army. Learned to cut hair there for extra spending money. Went on to create regional top end salons & a line of hair products. He died 6 years ago. We ran the business until a year ago (55 years total) & now are selling off the last bits. Bitter sweet. Had hopped to keep it going for grand kids to run but family ownership is challenging. Learned a massive amount about business from him. But the #1 lesson I took from him was, never own a lawn mower unless you want to use it. I’ve never owned a lawnmower. cc @cameron

oh man that's great, sorry to hear about his passing but great you have that connection i'm in an odd spot where my dad did so much lawncare as a kid that he hated it so he felt the same, so now i'm running myself through the fundamentals bc i never did haha probably have like a year left until i do the same lol

Those generational cycles are kinda funny how they play out. I took out the trash so much as a kid that I swore I’d never do it again. HATED it. While not ‘never’, I have arranged it so I don’t have to do it very often at all. Thank you Sandra & the trash compactor 😆
