F-1 Trillion is triumph. Post Malone always had range, but I'm shook, y'all. Country music is like sushi. Simple ingredients, but an *incredibly* high skill ceiling. That's why lower tier songs in the genre sound so similar and why the greats are so universally recognized as the masters they are. To me, the true soul of country music is a state of yearning, but never… quite... being the person you wish you were and Post just fuckin nails it. It’s so clear he loves the genre, understands all the tropes, and has a great intuition about when to subvert them. More importantly, he understands when to just *enjoy* the rules of the game. On its own, that expression of taste + musical experience is impressive, but when you consider that the album is basically a survey of all the era's of modern-ish popular country music (Outlaw, Honky Tonk, Western, Bro-Country, Country Pop, Bluegrass, etc) it's clear that he studied the shit out of his country music history...

It’s no wonder so many titans, old and new, like Dolly Parton, Hank Williams Jr, Tim McGraw, Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, and Sierra Ferrell were down to join in on the fun. If you like country music of any era, enjoy expanding your musical tastes, or have ever just unexpectedly tapped your foot along to that random song playing from overhead speakers at that podunk airport where you found yourself on an unexpected layover - take an hour to listen to this one. Some personal favs from the album: -Wrong Ones -Have the Heart -Nosedive -California Sober -M-E-X-I-C-O -Yours but seriously none of the tracks miss. Good read! I’m fascinated by how many pop/rap artists have made country albums recently. I’ve never been able to appreciate the genre, but hope it is bridging political divides.
