Idk bro - I mighta agreed but recently saw some documentaries of how much more quickly cities in the east are progressing compared to the west, and it’s eye-opening. Somehow, the communists have less bureaucratic roadblocks to build stuff than we do… When I think about projects like the Golden Gate Bridge or the Hoover dam, I don’t think they could ever get done in today’s day and age. NIMBYs and environmental regulations would kill them.

This is more about how even successful seeming stuff isn’t operating at nearly the level of effectiveness that you think it is That doesn’t mean stuff can’t work, but it means the process of making it work is a lot messier than people pretend like it is East vs west is always a psyop imo - even parts are true, there’s a tradeoff (be it human life like all the literal bodies buried in the Hoover dam or otherwise)

I used to think the same thing re: East vs west. And I’m certainly not saying I’d want to live in China. I just wish we could build shit like we used to be able to! And I wish every piece of infrastructure in the country wasn’t falling apart.
