Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, better known by the pseudonym Caligula, was a member of the Julio-Claudian Dynasty and the third emperor of the Roman Empire, who served between 37 and 41. He is known for his extreme extravagance, eccentricity, immorality and cruelty, and is remembered for his despotism.
