Can we just not do the L3? Let's go with Base and let it rip...market is too hot to be mired in this and I haven't heard a compelling reason for why we need an L3.

The way we think of L3s: Optimized, batteries-included dev experiences for devs who want to go fast The key complaints we hear about developing on L2s: - too expensive to throw out a cheap experiment - hard to get attention of the chain for custom precompiles, oracles, and other features - unsuitable for high volume applications like games, ridesharing, microtransactions, etc DEGEN L3 and its associated services on, eg neynar or dune, are the de facto oracles for farcaster data, and soon a cluster for handling namespaces and payment rails across social networks Running these use-cases economically on Base may be possible during the bear market, but we remember the costs when Base volumes were hot We have a lot of work to do to decentralize the L3 nitro and sequencer, but make no mistake that L2 throughputs and costs are still a far cry from competing with Visa, Uber, or Venmo scale

This is a great answer, thank you. I was thinking there’s an infra arguement that I wasn’t considering. But I worry about the audience/user problem. L3 is kind of a pain in the ass, though what @deployer has done with hamchain is a great example of how to completely involve an l3. Namely, having fun stuff to do with your ham on L3.

Totally agreed, we've been holding off on deploying some big things because of the migration delay, but we're dedicated to making sure there are even more fun things to do on DEGEN in addition to poidh, bountycaster, degenpad, mint club, poster fun, and the rest. Our goal long term is to make everything feel as easy as tipping. Just like leaving a comment
