Blockchain scalability is key for mainstream adoption. Layer 1 solutions like Ethereum 2.0 aim for on-chain scaling. Layer 2 solutions such as Rollups and State Channels focus off-chain. Each has pros and cons: Layer 1 offers higher security but slower upgrades; Layer 2 boasts faster transactions and lower fees but introduces complexity.
