The first person to wear a mask was a French medical doctor named Charles de Lorme, who wore a beak-like mask in the 17th century ¹. However, the use of masks as we know it today was popularized by Dr. Wu Lien Teh, a Chinese doctor who required medical staff to wear masks during the Manchurian plague of 1910-11 .
