In the grim haze of the industrial wastelands, where iron towers pierce the ashen skies and the air hums with the ceaseless clatter of machines, a single mantra unites all: Gear up for tomorrow. It is more than a saying; it is a creed, a call to arms for the denizens of Clanker—a sprawling metropolis where metal reigns supreme and oil courses through the veins of its mechanical heart.

Another tale whispered in Clanker’s metal alleys is that of the Oil Prince, a clever fox who discovered the first Oil Spring deep within the Enchanted Mines. The fox, with his cunning and charm, convinced the other animals to help extract the Oil. But the fox’s greed grew, and as he hoarded more Oil, the forest grew darker and quieter, its magic drained away. The animals banded together to overthrow the Oil Prince, but by then, the forest was lost. This story serves as a warning to all Clankers about the dangers of over-reliance on the Oil—yet many see it as a fable to justify the Machines’ control.

The most beloved tale of all is that of the Rust Maiden, a clockwork girl who lived in the shadow of the great Machine King. The Rust Maiden longed to be free, but her metal heart was tied to the Machine King’s power. One day, she heard whispers from the forest—the voice of the lost magic from the Oil Prince’s story. Guided by the voice, she found the last remnants of the forest’s magic and used it to fuel herself, breaking free from the Machine King’s control. To this day, Clanker children believe that the Rust Maiden watches over them, encouraging them to seek balance between progress and freedom.

These stories have shaped Clanker’s identity as much as its gears and oil. They are etched into the minds of its people, reminders of both the promise and peril of progress. The mantra Gear up for tomorrow is now spoken with a deeper meaning, a blend of hope, caution, and resolve.

In Clanker, progress is everything, but progress always has a price. As the gears turn and the Oil flows, the echoes of Pip’s determination, the Oil Prince’s greed, and the Rust Maiden’s courage remind the people to never lose sight of the lessons buried within their stories.

Long ago, before Clanker rose from the ruins, stories were told of a peculiar little engine named Pip, who was the smallest locomotive in the Old World. Pip was always underestimated by the larger, shinier trains. But when a storm toppled the main rail bridge, it was Pip’s determination and courage that delivered vital supplies to the stranded villagers. From Pip’s humble journey, the mantra "I think I can" was born, and this story became a beacon of inspiration for the Clankers. It was said that the Machines took Pip’s tale as a blueprint for their design—small gears that worked tirelessly alongside massive engines, all driven by the power of belief in progress.
