Here’s an eternal truth. You are on the wrong side of history if you find yourself on the side that burns a library.

Busy compiling an unachievably-long reading list for one week's holiday in Sicily. Any recommendations for books that go well with campari & the decollated breasts of St Agatha, pls do share ! 🍸

Mildly perturbed that I’m off to a new hairdressers in half an hour and I’ve still not picked a book to take with me. I feel like I need to make a good impression and the choice of book with determine that 😂

Where do people get their holiday clothes from? I want something I can throw on but doesn’t make me look like I’ve been shopping in the camping section of Mountain Warehouse.

Leave No Trace sees DCI Kat Frank and AI detective Lock on the hunt for a killer after two men are found tied to crosses. A timely, thought-provoking look at the disparity between reactions to male and female violence and how humans and AI, emotions and analytics, overlap.

Emily, our Assistant Editor, has a Raven Books version of Elmet on her wish list - ie dark, brooding, northern but with a bit more plot and drama for us - so if you also happen to have this, think of us both. We could do a lot of good things with it.

For anyone who hasn’t been to #TheakstonsCrime before and are worried, don’t be. It really is one of the friendliest events I’ve been to. As for all of you who were there. I’ll see you next year. Book people really are the best people.

I’ve had that feeling that something bad has happened or will happen all week. Which is never annoying or discombobulating.

Queues at my local library. Loads of people returning and borrowing books. One family leaving with a bag full, another browsing & the knit & natter group in full swing. Don’t let anyone tell you libraries are obsolete. They are vital for communities. They are communities.
