If I don’t have enough on my clipper card to exit the bart station am I just stuck on the train system for the rest of my life

Lol. Like the 21st century SF version of the movie The Terminal. A workaround would be going back to the station you started at in order to exit. Theoretically it would be like you never left. Not sure if it would work in practice though.
