Death wouldn't be so bad if I could at least remain as a disembodied mind with the ability to read, learn, and observe the world — even without interacting with it (an acceptable tradeoff to make room for the next generations).

Like a ghost with polymath aspirations and a cosmological timescale to fulfill them (or procrastinate with minimal guilt). Or even a Kurzweilian fantasy where my mind gets uploaded to an S3 bucket and gets to travel the world at the speed of (fiber optic) light.

But the absolute nothingness of death is a cosmic travesty, especially after such a teasingly brief crack of light bookended by two eternities.
