🧵 The Hidden Reality of Wall Street > Bulls, Bears... and the Overlooked Two Wall Street derives its name from an actual wall in Manhattan—constructed not for humans, but for livestock. Its purpose was to prevent animals from wandering off. But here's the twist: That agricultural heritage still lingers. Let me explain 🧵👇 Every trader knows about bulls and bears. 🐂 Bulls push prices up > they buy in anticipation of rising prices. 🐻 Bears push prices down > they sell, capitalizing when prices drop. Both are well regarded in the market. But what about the other animals?

There are two more creatures on Wall Street. 🐖 Hogs and 🐑 Sheep. Traders rarely discuss them and that’s a significant issue. Most traders don’t face ruin as bulls or bears. They get taken down as hogs and sheep. Here’s why: 🐖 Hogs are driven by greed. They take overly large positions. They neglect stop-loss orders. They hang onto trends too long, waiting for “just a little more”... And when the market turns against them even slightly they get eliminated. Traders often say: “Bulls make money, bears make money, but hogs get slaughtered.” 🐑 Sheep are even worse. They lack independent thought. They blindly follow signals, influencers, and “gurus.” They enter trades late, exit poorly, and panic during volatility. They don’t trade with conviction; they simply follow the crowd. Until that crowd leads them to disaster.
