nope, I haven't tried --sref {image} but thanks will give it a try. i'm really impressed by the retexture feature, i think this is the closest you can get to keeping style consistency across different generations.

This is awesome. Was it a consistent character --cref with different --sref or just variations of --sref?

Have you ever used --sref {image}? If you crank up the --sv (I think max is 100) you can style transfer from a reference image. I think you can do more than one (basically blend sref) but I'm not 100% sure on that one.
