It's becoming increasingly clear to me that (purely collectible) NFTs don't work/last unless they are on Ethereum. The cost and security is the feature.

Ethereum is the gold standard for NFT security and longevity, no doubt. But there’s a case to be made for alternative chains that prioritise affordability and speed—especially for new artists and collectors.
