Lots of ways to be earning much more on your eth than the 2-3% a solo staking node earns Is there anything Ethereum/anyone is doing to raise the incentives to solo stake from home? The opportunity costs is $3-10k/year 😓

Selling drugs on the street has a pretty big ROI if you truly want to maximize this. I'm only half-joking. To me vanilla staking is a stable somewhat conservative way with low risks to put your ETH at work. The main incentive to me is supporting and helping the Ethereum network. ROI or APR is only one aspect of this choice. You have to weight the risks too.

I think it’s pretty comparable to LST risk, which sometimes has higher rewards

I would argue that LST has much more risks which is why it has higher rewards in many cases. Here is a short list of additional risks: 1. Smart contract vulnerability risk 2. Counterparty and protocol risk 3. Liquidity and redemption risks 4. Systemic DeFi integration risks 5. Regulatory uncertainty risks It's totally fine to view these risks has being acceptable for higher rewards. It's a matter of personal preferences.
