A funny story about ‘Feel Your Ghost’ - the Tiësto & Mathame song with my vocals/lyrics 👇🏼 I actually did these vocals as part of a sample pack that I was hired to do by a company who licenses packs on Splice (a huge sample library that producers use to make most of the music you hear). One day I got a message from someone saying they heard my song with Tiësto- to which I replied, ‘I don’t have a song out with Tiësto’ 🤔 and then they sent me the link. Sure enough the entire song featured my vocals! 25 million streams later and it’s Mathame’s biggest song! Before you ask- no I do not get any royalties 😂

Damn so in the future will you make sure you always get royalties if your samples get used or will you just not do packs anymore?

definitely one way to go yes. in the past it made more sense to me to get an upfront buyout (i do a lot of vocal work like that) but yes going forward i’ve been a lot more selective with it and take a percentage

Over here we’re all about equity ownership when there’s a chance it’s a rocket ship 😄 and ideally we’ll bring that mentality to all of media too
