While I understand the ease of onboarding newbies into the market is a lot easier with the promise (hope) of some riches and sharing laughs with stupid memecoins, I sometimes can't help but feel like it's regression from when I first entered the space and people actually cared decentralization, hard money, changing the world, etc. Added to that fact that from an outsider looking in, a large % of the liquidity/volume being in these useless tokens also isn't a good look. I know it's not actual regression and they do bring a lot of people in, but it does feel that way at times. That said, if you can't beat'em, might as well join'em, so what shitcoins are we aping into lately? 🀣 πŸ˜‚

You described my thoughts to a T @breech. I got into this space in 2016-17 for the β€œbe your own bank” and β€œfuture of finance” narrative an largely, that is still my reason. Faded memes forever not only because of the liquidity vacuum, but also because I felt that no one would take the space seriously. Still kind of feel that way, but I’m definitely putting some small positions on high quality community driven memes like /9to5. I like the onboarding of younger people aspect to memes, but I hate the fact that 95% of the memes that are launched are predatory, greed driven scams. And it’s unfortunate that many people’s first intro to crypto will be getting rugged. πŸ–x500

Thanks brother, we are quite literally in the same boat. Joined at the same time and I remember researching new project through 2017 excited about their prospects to be a part of the narratives you've mentioned, even if many were vaporware and scams too, at least they tried/pretended to be about changing the world and future of finance for the better. After 2021 I had hoped the memecoin craze was a 1 bull run flash in the pan, but it's clear that they're going nowhere, and are a sufficient onboarding tool even if the vast majority are rugs, so we might as well try to profit from them while we're here. I agree on /9to5, I've been in since day 1, looking to add some other bags for the remainder of the bull too. I just can't pull the trigger on memes with multi-billion market caps though, I feel like I should just invest in other major caps at that point lol. πŸ– x 200 $degen
