In 1984, Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata’s trip to China In 1984, 43-year-old Hayao Miyazaki and 49-year-old Isao Takahata went to China for sightseeing. They visited Beijing and Shanghai, and also visited the Shanghai Art Film Studio and presented them with the film of "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind". Studio Ghibli had not yet been established at that time, and this was Miyazaki's only visit to China.
