do you like the top one or the bottom one better?

Top for sure. Allocation isn't an important number during the day and bottom makes it seem prominent. 

I would actually consider taking the top one and make "Todays Allocation" into 
Tips Remaining. ANd Put allocation in the little spot where tips remaining is now in the top.
