My most productive time(s) were seasons where the overall task was more defined--I knew (specifically) what I was trying to achieve and basically how to achieve it. At least in terms of getting the most tangible work done. 

Other times, I think you measure productive differently b/c not everything is tangible.

One I practice is to do the tangible, specific tasks first (or early) in the day/week to prove myself productive and then have flexibility the rest of the day/week to muse on the harder, less tangible tasks and if/when I made progress it was a perceived bonus.

Yea - productivity as a manager for example feels  like you can hit tangible inputs but fuzzy outputs (did you REALLY drive that revenue number etc). 

Any particularly useful “specific” framings that you think helped you stay focused?
